TAP CLASSES
Tap Dance is an American art form where dancers wear metal taps on their shoes creating rhythmic, percussive sounds. It's a highly energized
style of dance that is excellent exercise as well as develops in the dancer a strong sense of rhythm and musicality. Tap classes are offered
for all levels, ages 5 and above (and Pretap for ages 4 and 5).
FOOTWORK and Jr. FOOTWORK Competitive Tap Teams
The studio's two competitive tap teams were established in 2011 with FOOTWORK and 2012 with Jr. FOOTWORK, to offer the area's strongest
tappers the chance to perform at various community events and competitions throughout the NY and PA areas. Tap Dancers are selected
for the teams by an audition process in September. Team dancers perform in multiple regional competitions and both teams have brought home
numerous first place trophies and top high score awards!
VOICE LESSONS
Voice Lessons are held on Monday evenings also in Room 218 of the Deane Center. Voice students participate in the spring recital presenting
either a solo, duet and/or a group voice performance. The voice lessons are a ½ hour individual weekly voice lesson with Jason Auman, tenor.
Ages - The voice lessons are for singers ages 8 years and above.
MODERN CLASSES
Modern Dance classes are founded in traditional modern dance techniques, including those of Doris Humphrey, Martha Graham, Isadora Duncan, and Ruth St. Denis. Modern dance is done barefoot, and focuses on visceral interpretations of music and sensation. Modern classes are offered for
all levels, ages 7 and above.
AFRICAN CLASSES
African Dance comes from the traditional ritual dances of West Africa and the “Africanist Aesthetics” of exuberant performance, homage to mother earth, polyrhythm, and personal embellishment. Students will study the traditional dances and incorporate more modern forms for a wide and well-rounded view of African dance’s scope and utility. African classes are offered for all levels, ages 10 and above.

Business Review
I'm so glad we found RAOD! Miss Michelle and Miss Theresa (and I'm sure the other instructors, too!) are amazing! I have seen my daughter (4 years old) grow by leaps and bounds since she started dance (Tap I and the Pre-Ballet workshops) in the fall. It's been so rewarding to see her interact with a new group of 'friends' and become more confident. She has learned the importance of paying attention during class and that practicing is important. It's a great way for her to stay active and have fun during the winter months! Thank you RAOD!
